Digital innovation

The objective of this cross-cutting topic is the development of strategies for the measurement and modeling of systems and processes studied in the laboratory.
In the field of measurement, this involves developing new strategies for the continuous monitoring of water or pollutant flows, in increasingly complex and / or decentralized systems. The challenges here are to be able to understand and model the processes, both in time (transient phenomena) and in space (dispersed phenomena). Another challenge is the management of information within the framework of the intensification and densification of metrological systems.

Modeling is also a tool for understanding our systems which integrate physical (transport, transfer), chemical (reactions, equilibria) or biological phenomena. These phenomena are dynamic and in most cases multi-scale. The understanding of the mechanisms is questioned via explicit models (computational fluid mechanics - CFD, flow models in porous media, geochemical models, stoichiokinetic models) or statistics.
