HIREAU : To predict the past in order to know the future

HIREAU - To reconstitute the history of wastewater and drinking water networks INSA scientific leader : Laboratoire : DEEPProject leader : Frédéric CherquiCall for proposal : Labex IMUFunding : 140 k€Dates - Duration : 11/2016-11/2019 (36 mois)Partners : DEEP / INSA Lyon, CRGA / UMR 5600, LIRIS, Grand Lyon la Métropole, Eau du Grand Lyon, VeoliaFunding Institutions :          HIREAU is research project funded par the IMU (http://imu.universite-lyon.fr/) aiming to develop methods to help utilities to reconstruct installation date of water and wasterwater networks. Methods include: (i) learning methods in order to predict installation date based on characteristics of the pipes and its environment, (ii) methods to consults archives in order to gather data on the existing networks, (iii) in-situ investigations methods to determine the installation date of a pipe.Such information is often considered as a major explanatory variable of the condition of a pipe and thus is becoming indispensable in order to help utilities to implement proactive asset management of their networks.HIREAU is a consortium of three laboratories in the fields of Urban Hydrology (DEEP Insa Lyon), Geography (EVS – UMR 5600), and Informatics (LIRIS – UMR 5205); two industrial partners (Veolia and Eau du Grand Lyon); and the Metropolis of Lyon.HIREAU focuses on the networks of the Metropolis of Lyon as a case-study.
